About AMAG LaufNo and Wagenkarte Porsche 912

AMAG

AMAG  (Automobil und Motoren AG) was the Swiss importer/dealer from Porsche based in Zurich. AMAG still exists but nowadays Porsche imports the cars.

AMAG Metal tag with ''AMAG Lauf.no."

In the past AMAG added a metal tag on the sheet-metal under the engine lid with ‘ AMAG Laufno ‘ (= run number) followed by a ‘4 digit number’ (‘ Laufno xxxx ‘), later also with 5 or 6 digits).

This additional number was only for Switserland. You still can find these numbers on the Swiss-delivered Porsche 912’s. The reason for this tag with number was that AMAG could see that it was a Swiss-delivered car and used it for the settlement on the warranty in their administration-system (direct information from AMAG). Another ‘’source’’ on the internet claims that the number means the car complies with all laws and this number verifies it complies with AMAG’s test results, but this couldn’t be confirmed by AMAG.

AMAG Wagenkarte

These ‘’Laufno‘s” are registered on cards (Wagenkarte), together with more data about the Porsche 912 (also from other Porsche-cars, VW and Audi they sold).

Porsche/AMAG still has an AMAG-Wagenkarte-archive, but unfortunally it is NOT possible to obtain a copy of the ‘ Wagenkarte ’ due to data-protection, even if you  can prove that you are the current owner of an AMAG-delivered-Porsche 912.

Unfortunately ….  I don’t have a picture of the AMAG-Wagenkarte to show here.

Are you willing to share a picture of your Wagenkarte here? Please let me know !

Until now, the number of Swiss-delivered Porsche 912’s ‘’AMAG Laufno’s’’ I’ve found:  10
